HG Interview

This case study interview was conducted by HG in 2022. The interview asks the candidate to evaluate a potential buyout of an asset offering SaaS-based products to the financial services industry with the ultimate goal of deciding whether the asset could support a sound investment thesis. 

In addition to the interview prompt, the candidate is provided with three documents:

  • 1) The asset's financials
  • 2) A management presentation
  • 3) A memo template

The candidate is expected to prepare two outputs:

  • 1) A completed investment memo based on the provided template, which provides the candidates investment recommendation, an overview of the assets business model, potential transaction risks, and topics that merit additional due diligence
  • 2) A completed LBO model as well as any supporting analysis for metrics and key takeaways shown in the memo
