Gemspring Capital Interview

This take-home case study interview was conducted by Gemspring in 2023 as part of the second-round interview process. The interview asks the candidate to evaluate an asset in the logistics and freight forwarding industry with the ultimate goal of deciding whether the asset warrants additional due diligence and could support a sound investment thesis. The candidate was given two days to complete the analysis.

In addition to the interview prompt, the candidate is given a large data cube with over 45 thousand rows of data. 

 The candidate is expected to produce two outputs:

  • 1) A memo which summarizes the company’s business operations and associated business drivers, historical revenue and margin trends, as well as other relevant business metrics
  • 2) Excel-based analysis of the data cube which contains the supporting analysis for metrics and key takeaways shown in the memo.
