The interview asks the candidate to evaluate a potential LBO of a cell tower asset. In addition to the interview prompt, the candidate is provided with a blank model template which includes an overview of the asset’s operating model (e.g., build cost per tower, tenant count, annual maintenance capex per tower, etc.), relevant financials, and LBO transaction assumptions. The candidate is also provided with forward interest rates for SOFR and LIBOR across various durations (1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, 2 years, etc.).

The candidate is expected to prepare a three statement LBO model to determine an appropriate valuation range for the transaction, gross returns to investors across a range of holding periods, net returns to investors under an assumed long-term incentive plan, ability to pay analysis based on an assumed net return, and additional relevant returns analyses.
